Many Believe Ipl Would Be Boon For Women’s Cricket While Indian Test Skipper Mithali Raj Believe Otherwise

With the popularity of Indian women’s cricket team, slowly but steadily, rising and the women cricketers themselves becoming popular, the Indian cricket board has decided to organize exhibition matches for women during the upcoming season of Indian Premier League. While the board hopes that these matches will lay the groundwork for women’s IPL, Mithali Raj, a legend in her own might, has her reservations.

“It’s important to have the pool of players, who will be qualified to play IPL kind of a league. You can feed in any domestic (players) but then there will be a stark difference between an international player and domestic player. It might go against promoting women’s cricket,” the highest-run getter in women’s cricket said. While Mithali had pointed out some very strong points, many domestic cricketers, and coaches associated with women’s teams begged to differ as they believe “IPL would be a boon for women’s cricket.”
