1. Sania Mirza
This name needs no introduction. She has established herself as the most dominant and successful female athlete of the nation. She has become the first Indian female to achieve No. 1 WTA Rank in doubles. There is simply no stopping to her.



2. Saina Nehwal


She made history by reaching the World No. 1 rank in badminton and became the first Indian female athlete to do so. She has been exceptional this year and won several accolades.


3. Karnam Malleswari



Karnam bagged the highest sports honor of India – Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1995 amongst many others. She has a long list of achievements under her name. She is also the first Indian women athlete to win a bronze in Olympics in weightlifting for our country.



4. MC Mary Kom



Everyone is familiar with this name. A member of Kom tribe of Manipur, Mary broke down many stereotypes during her way to London Olympics when she became the only Indian boxer to make it to Olympics. Not only that, she is a gold medalist in Asian Games 2004. Mary is a role model to many Indian women, particularly in North-east Indian states.




5. Dipa Karmakar

Thanks to Dipa, that India managed to make her way into the artistic gymnastics in the Olympics. She became the first Indian gymnast to qualify after 52 long years. She also won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and continue to make such successful endeavors in the field of gymnastics.


6. Mithali Raj
Mithali is a successful Indian cricketer who has many records in her name. She is the first Indian and Asian women athlete to score a double hundred in test cricket. Not only this, she also held a major record of the highest score against England (214) that stood for 19 months.




7. P V Sindhu
She is yet another rising star of Badminton. PV Sindhu became the first Indian women athlete to win a medal in World Badminton Championship back in 2013.






8. Geeta Phogat
She broke many stereotypes altogether and made us proud when she became the first Indian woman wrestler to qualify for Olympics in 2012. Despite all the criticism she received from society and her family, she didn’t buzz and made an exceptional sports career.
